This afternoon at 6pm sees the opening of “Greenhouse by Joost”, Melbourne’s first “pop-up”, greenhouse restaurant, built using only recycled or sustainable materials.
In conjunction with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival – running from 2-22 March – the two storey restaurant is located at Melbourne’s Queensbridge Square precinct, and is guaranteed to stimulate plenty of media attention and consumer traffic.
Inside the restaurant, the floor is made from old conveyor belting, the chairs from disused irrigation pipes, and there are no rubbish bins as all waste is composted.
The portable generators which generate power for all appliances and equipment used, are operated with canola oil – not diesel – which complements the “green” concept.
Lancer Beverage have supplied all the beer dispense systems, wine dispensers, and carbonated water dispensing equipment. There is a total of 24 beer taps and 2 Pluto guns dispensing beverages from a portable refrigerated cool room located at the rear of the restaurant.
We have also supplied two of our Hoshizaki Ice Machines – one flaker and one cuber – to facilitate the “all natural” mixing of spirits and cocktails.
Greenhouse is the brain child of Joost Bakker, a dutch born florist, artist, builder and environmentalist. We're excited to be involved in this project and look forward to many great "green" times over the coming weeks.

Our new range of Lancer Soft Drink Superchillers were specifically engineered to meet our stringent environmental targets, and we have been delighted with the results.
So far sales of the new Lancer Soft Drink Superchiller S4E & S8E have resulted in reductions of over 6,000 tons of CO² emissions compared to the previous model.
That’s equivalent to approximately 1,500 cars off our roads!*
