We are constantly inspired by the generosity and ingenuity of those around us, and Plates for Mates is a prime example of this.
A house fire on Boxing Day 2011 claimed the lives of well-known chef Matthew Golinski’s wife and children. Matt was also severely burned in the fire.
From this tragedy, Matt’s close chef mates formed Plates for Mates, offering an opportunity for the hospitality industry to assist Matt’s recovery and The McComb Foundation.
We were proud to support this fundraising in the recent Food Plates Roar event initiated by our friends at Food Strategy.
Along with Food Strategy and other food service organisations, we pledged to donate $50 per goal scored by Brisbane Roar during the A-League Grand Final between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory.
The final score was Brisbane Roar 2 vs Perth Glory 1, however Perth’s one goal was in fact an own goal… along with others, we counted this as 3 total goals, and donated accordingly.
Combined with other Plates for Mates fundraisers, this will greatly assist Matt and the valuable work of The McComb Foundation.
