The World’s Greatest Shave has been operating since 1998, and is now one
of Australia’s most recognised fundraising campaigns. There are 35 people being
diagnosed with the disease every day, meaning that the campaign is fundamental
in helping people survive Leukaemia and other blood cancers.
The day kicked off with a bake sale, with lots of sweets and treats on
offer. It wasn’t long before the table was clear and the jars were filled with
lots of donations for the Leukaemia foundation.
As everyone recovered from a sugar overload the shaving and colouring
space was set up. The company kindly supplied a pizza lunch, to be eaten
during the shave and the raffle.
All participants looked great afterwards, with one brave staff member
even waxing his back. Hoshizaki Lancer matched the total raised, giving an
overall donation of around $3,500.
The money will go towards research, which is needed to find better
treatments and cures for leukaemia’s, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood
Funds raised will also support families when they need it most,
providing leukaemia, patients with a free home-away-from-home near hospital
during their treatments.
Thank you to all who sponsored, the donations will make a huge
difference to those affected by Leukaemia.
Well done to all of our courageous shavers, waxers, and colourers – you
all looked amazing, and a massive thank you to the team of bakers for providing
sweet treats on the day. We couldn’t have done it without such an amazing
team of staff.
