Overview

Flinders Medical Centre is a public teaching hospital and medical school, co-located with Flinders University and Flinders Private Hospital. Flinders Medical Centre is part of the Southern Adelaide Health Service.

Flinders Private Hospital is constantly evolving to provide the very best in health care and as one of South Australia’s leading private hospitals is equipped with the latest technology, equipment and facilities set in modern, luxurious surroundings. The hospital performs a broad range of diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures supported by Medical Imaging, Pathology and Radiotherapy.

Flinders Private Hospital provides an emergency admission service accepting private patients through the 24 hour Chest Pain Centre, directly from the co-located public hospital and also by referral following consultation with the admitting specialists.

The staff at Flinders Medical realised it was necessary to keep up with current hygiene requirements when providing chilled water and ice to its recovering patients either from surgery or maternity procedures.

Cublet ice is the preferred option to eliminate choking hazards conventional sized ice may present.

Solution

Flinders Medical in conjunction with Hoshizaki Lancer decided on a Cublet Ice / Water Dispenser to service these areas of the hospital.

The DCM-110F Cublet Ice / Water Dispenser was the preferred option, providing constant filtered mains water and up to 105kg of cublet ice over a 24 hour period.

Results

This allows all post operation patients to be provided cold water with cublet ice in a speedy and completely hygienic manner, due to the system not requiring manual handling and dispensing ice and water directly into the glass.

Three dispense options are available:

• Cublet Ice Only
• or Water / Cublet Ice Combined.
